Spring Cleaning Your Digital Marketing Plan: Part I

Do you have a digital marketing plan that needs a facelift? Would you like to learn how to bump up your reach online for your small business? Check in to the Digital Marketing Hotseat Podcast this week to find out how to freshen up your digital marketing plan so you can feel more confident about your small business's digital marketing.

How to Start Spring Cleaning Your Digital Marketing Plan

When revamping your digital marketing plan, you first want to look at what marketing assets you already have. This may be a website, email marketing campaigns, various social media channels. Then, starting with the digital marketing elements you already have, you can optimize your current venues to make them work for your business better and more effectively.

Next, look at your social media and website performance data. Rather than using how you feel as an indicator of how well your digital marketing works, use your numbers to understand what aspects of your digital marketing aren't working--and what is working. It may not be an entire campaign failing; you may have one or two elements that need to be tweaked to yield better results for your digital marketing campaign.

Tips for Updating Your Digital Marketing Plan

Mark talks about the benefits of having software to track progress. This can be having a Google Sheet, where you keep track and analyze the results from various aspects of your digital marketing campaign. In addition, there are many free digital resources that you can take advantage of as a small business owner to track your digital marketing.

When Lynn gets a call or email from a new customer, she likes to ask how they found her services. This offers insight into what parts of her digital marketing plan are generating new leads. Likewise, clients can be a valuable resource for gaining insight into your digital marketing by asking questions about what's worked for them, what they want more of, and what problems they may be having in their digital marketing campaign.
